Woodley Carnival News & Takings

14 June 2015

Dear Leaders, Exec, Parents, Scouts, Cubs and Beavers

Thank you so much from everyone at 5th Woodley. Yet again you did us proud, it really was a huge team effort. A special thanks to those that were on the grounds all day long and to those that took part in our walking float and then came and helped on our stalls.

We won the Runners Up trophy for the best Walking Display, thank you to David Davies for organising this, I’m sure next year we will be back to claim our 1st prize trophy!

We took a massive £1029, which after costs for the pitches, prizes etc should leave a clear £700 profit. Footfall was steady all day on all of the stalls, the weather was very kind and it was nice to see a long queue for the China Smash at times. Our new addition made by Mike Lee was the Spin The Wheel and proved to be very popular as the figures will show.

The breakdown for the stalls (for those that like to know) was as follows:

Shooting £80.50
Spin The Wheel £171.00
China Smash £177.50
Walking Float £178.00
Tombola £422.00

As you can see these figures look really good and if it’s not a record for Woodley Carnival it’s pretty close.

Thank you once again for everyone’s help and for all the support that you have given me to bring our fundraising to a new level.

Next year our theme for the Walking Float will be “Cowboys and Indians” to fit in with the Wild Wild West theme of Cubjam. So you have plenty of time to get your costumes ready, naturally all Beavers, Cubs and Scouts are welcome to join in the Walking Float.

Dates for fundraising diaries:

31st August 2015 – Reading Festival Salvage
3rd October 2015 – Pagoda Sale
6th December 2015 – Woodley Winter Extravaganza
11th June 2016 – Woodley Carnival

I look forward to seeing you at one or more of the above events.

Kind regards

Vicki Widdis
